Trib Live. Pittsburgh-area medical experts split on Johnson & Johnson vaccine pause

“Something that is this rare and recognizable and treatable is not something that should derail use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, especially in this atmosphere of vaccine hesitancy,” said Pittsburgh-based infectious disease expert Dr. Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. “People are not going to remember that this was not a major risk. They’re going to remember the bad headline.”

This statement is correct on every point. This “pause” was a draconian overreach by the CDC. I was scheduled to receive the J&J vaccine tomorrow (4/15/21). I specifically wanted the one-dose J&J vaccine. Due to my unique health situation, I am very likely to have significant side effects from the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. But now, I have no choice but to get the first Pfizer dose tomorrow, then the second doses in three weeks, and I will be fretting that entire time, rather than being one and done. Or, of course, I could just skip getting the vaccine altogether. That will probably be the reaction to this “pause” by many people. I am not sure yet what I will do, get the Pfizer, wait for the J&J to be re-approved, or just skip it altogether.

This has been the problem throughout this pandemicgovernmental authorities treating we the people like children who cannot make our own risk/ benefit analyses. Just give us accurate information, then let we the people decide based on our own unique personal situations how to proceed. Wear a mask. Don’t wear a mask. Attend a social gathering. Don’t attend a social gathering. Get a vaccine. Don’t get a vaccine. Just tell us the risks, and let us decide for ourselves what course of action to pursue.

In this case, there were six women aged 18-48 who got blood clots, one died, and one is in critical condition. That is sad. But it was out of 6.8 million J&J doses. That is literally less than one in a million. Moreover, note that it is only young women who got the blood clots. As an older male, my risk is nil. As such, give me they choice of which vaccine to get, if any.

I just want the government to playing Big Brother and making choices for us. And don’t get me started on the idiocy of “vax passes.” If I choose to get the vaccine due to my personal health situation, that should be my choice. But if I do, I have no intents of showing a “vax pass” to go anywhere.

I previously posted about signing up to receive the J&J #Coronavirus vaccine, but then the CDC “pausing” its use. Well, I went ahead and got the Pfizer vaccine. My main reason was I had a convenient appointment for a drive-thru vaccine clinic just fifteen minutes from my home. I was there and back in 45 minutes.

That was yesterday (4/15). Last night and today, my arm is a bit sore and bothered me some through the night, but that was it as far as side effects go. But then, it is the second dose that has me worried and that I was trying to avoid by signing up to get the J&J vaccine. But as it is, I am scheduled to get the second dose May 6. I will see then what happens.

Trib Live/ AP. Covid-19 hospitalizations tumble among U.S. senior citizens

Covid-19 hospitalizations among older Americans have plunged 80% since the start of the year, dramatic proof the vaccination campaign is working….
That slide is especially encouraging because senior citizens have accounted for about 8 out of 10 deaths from covid-19 since the virus hit the United States.
Overall, covid-19 deaths in the U.S. have plummeted to about 700 per day on average, compared with a peak of over 3,400 in mid-January. All told, the scourge has killed about 570,000 Americans.

This is very strong evidence the Covid vaccines work. They are already saving up to 2,700 lives a day and many more hospitalizations. That is far greater reduction in death and suffering than is being caused by the vaccines, even if you believe the most outrageous claims of the anti-vaxxers.#CovidVaccines

More Stats on the Effectiveness of Covid Vaccines

I previously posted stats showing the Covid vaccines work. This observation is confirmed by the Coronavirus case stats for Allegheny County (where Pittsburgh is located and where I live). On Friday, April 23, 2021, we added 350 cases.

The age ranges for new cases are:

• 0-4 years: 14 cases

• 5-12 years: 24 cases

• 13-18 years: 36 cases

• 19-24 years: 57 cases

• 25-49 years: 148 cases

• 50-64 years: 57 cases

• 65 and older: 14 cases (Trib Live. Covid cases taper in Pa., but deaths, hospitalizations remain a concern)

Formerly, the 65+ category always had the highest number of cases. But that is now the age group that is most vaccinated, and it now is tied for the lowest with the four and under group. Other adults, 19-64, who are not as near as vaccinated, have seen the vast majority of the cases, while children and even teens remain the least at risk, as has been the case throughout the pandemic. Once all those 19-64 adults have the opportunity to get vaccinated, this pandemic is over, at least as far as I am concerned.

Joe Biden's Failing Presidency

Biden can be very disingenuous in his tweets and his claims about his various plans and polices. He thinks they are all grand and good for the country. But in fact, it is those very plans and policies that is causing his presidency to be failing. Those plans and polices are also dividing and destroying American. Biden’s early actions also set the stage for more failures later in his presidency, so it is important to remember them. These five books are the definitive record of those failures.
